Thank you for visiting Lifelines

Its seems a long time since the Lifelines Exhibition but we’re just about getting back to normal now.  Not for long though, there are events in abundance coming up over the next few months.  We had a fantastic time at Sam’s and in the end we could have done with another couple of weeks, four instead of two, maybe next time?  So thank you to all our visitors and buyers making the event so worthwhile.

Invite

Opening this Saturday is a mixed event titled All at Sea with members from Harding House Gallery here in Lincoln.  If you haven’t visited Harding House Gallery on the famous Steep Hill then you should.  It’s a fabulous old building full of fabulous art on a fabulous steep hill .  A Gallery run by artists and there’s always one on duty to help.

Commissions completed, Sam’s exhibition approaches.

If you’re wondering what the image is on the invite for the Lifelines Exhibition, as I have had a few people ask me over the last couple of weeks, here it is before and after it was fired in the kiln.

African DaisyIt’s called African Daisy and will be wall mounted and lit from the centre.  Commissioned by fellow Lincoln artist Janet Schooley earlier this year, she has kindly let me hang on to it for the time being so it can be part of the show.

More recently I’ve just finished another commission which will be winging its way over to Canada shortly,  based on fencing.  Thoroughly enjoyed doing these, I think I will have to do some more.

Touche, parry, riposte.“Touche…….Parry……..Riposte!”

Logo masterLifeline’s at the Sam Scorer Gallery is only three weeks away now, I think everything is running to plan, majority of the work is now completed and tomorrow I can start preparing the space etc. in my head of course.

In the meantime here’s a quick preview of some of the new work whichwill be on display at Sam’s

Lifelines Exhibition Looming

Lifelines noticeboardNot long now till my first show of the year.  It’s fascinating how a little bit of pressure gets the creative juices flowing and for a one man show Sam’s is a big space to fill!  Been in the shed for a number of weeks now and everything’s coming together, so all’s going well.

I’ve decided to make some smaller figurative pieces for this exhibition, which will hang alongside some working drawings, they’ve got to be mounted up yet but here’s a sneaky preview.

Figurative glass panels

Back in the shed again tomorrow, got to get this in the kiln. I can’t believe how well these glass dust images have been received.  Glass dust with finished imageThere is a picture of all four dust images in an earlier blog if you haven’t seen them before, touch wood the top image should turn out like the one underneath?  But you never can tell with glass.  “You think you’ve cracked it and you probably have!”

sun going down over LincolnI did get chance to get away from it all for a couple of hours this evening with Moll, bloody gorgeous down by the river.  A pint of Yellowbelly at The Carpenters then a walk back along the Witham as the sun went down over Lincoln.

Elements of Time’s Past

“SILVER”

Tuesday 23rd July – Sunday 4th August 2013

Private View which will be opened officially by Peter Moss on Saturday 27th July 2 – 4 pm.

In a weeks time the Sam Scorer Gallery here in Lincoln plays host to the Contemporary Crafts Network, a local group of makers celebrating their 25th anniversary exhibition.  The present group consists of 28 members with specialists in the fields of ceramics, sculpture, felt work, weaving, textiles, silver, gold, jewellery, blown and kiln formed glass, paper, wood and furniture and mixed media.

This exhibition brings together work from all members, the theme of silver will run through the exhibition emphasising this anniversary and celebrating the achievement of working together across a range of medias for the last twenty-five years.

Well, now you know what it’s all about, this is what I’m putting in.
